Live It, Love It, Lose It!

The Corporate office at Learn It Systems
is beating the winter blues and trying to lose!
How many times have we made New Year’s resolutions that consist of eating healthier, exercising more, shedding a pound or two, or just all around feeling better after the typical winter hibernation indulgence?  Does anyone really follow through with it? Time is passing and it will soon be Spring... then Summer.

As seen on NBC: Tuesdays from 8-9pm

The Learn It Corporate office is now having a "Biggest Loser" contest to see who can lose the largest percentage of weight.  Not only is this a chance to win the pool of money, it is a great motivator to looking and feeling our best.  Or is that the other way around?

Learn It Biggest Loser Contest Details:
  • There are 16 participants
  • There was an initial entry fee of $20 to participate
  • Weigh-in's take place every Friday morning
  • Weight loss is measured in percentages
  • If any weight is gained during the weigh-in, the participant must put $5 into the pool
  • The same type of clothing must be worn each weigh-in (example: if you have shoes
    on
during your first weigh-in, you must always have them on)
  • There is a buy-out option: if you start the program and decide you no longer want to
    participate, there is a
    $20 buy-out fee
  • The contest ends on March 11, 2011
  • The participant with the largest percentage of weight loss wins the pool of CA$H!

The dreaded march to Finance/HR
Though there are no intense workouts all day, professionals monitoring our food intake, and weigh-ins on a stage, our participants still do not have it easy around here.  There is no workout equipment and physical activity challenges, but there is a never-ending staircase up into the attic where the Finance, Payroll, Accounting, and HR teams have been moved.  Don't feel bad for them... they will be the ones to make it on the top in the end!  And who can forget the delicious goodie begging to be eaten all over the office?   Whether it is in the kitchen, at a birthday celebration, or sitting on desks, our most competitive players like to throw out temptations!

So what is the point of this blog post?
We thought we would play nice and share some easy tips to follow for healthy eating and exercise to include in your every day routine.  At the beginning of each week, we will share a new tip that should help you trudge your way to Friday's weigh-in.  Don't feel left out if are not participating; these tips are great for everyone!

Tip #1
Bring your lunch everyday!  This will discourage stopping by fast food restaurants. If you make your lunch at home, you will also be more attentive to what you are eating.

Upcoming Title I Conference

Learn It Systems will be participating in the 2011 National Title I Conference in Tampa, FL from Monday, January 31 through Wednesday, February 2, 2011.

Hosted by the National Title I Association, the National Title I Conference is an annual event for educational professionals working with the Title I Program.  Participants gather to collaborate and further their knowledge about Title I programs and policies.  They also share ideas and have the opportunity to hear from nationally recognized speakers in the field.  At the completion of the conference, attendees walk away as some of the first individuals given an overview of what is expected to come to Title I.

This year's conference theme is Innovate!, and the three areas of focus will be Instruction, Leadership, and Policy.

Learn It takes great pride in participating in the National Title I Conference each year, as it allows us to showcase our company and to connect with both current and future business partners.  Attending this premiere event provides us with an opportunity to gather valuable information on the Title I program and how to better help children achieve success academically and in life.

Look out for Learn It's blue and green booth, featuring our new conference display.  We are eager to speak to our colleagues about all the services we have to offer, including our recent Learn It Online (LION) English Language Learning (ELL), and Non-Public School Services programs.

Below are some of the highlights in our Service Offerings Booklet that will be available at our booth.

Tweet Tweet! Read all about it!

Over this past year, Learn It Systems has taken the leap into the world of Twitter with the creation of the LIS Twitter page.
(LIS Twitter page)

Twitter is a rapid growing social networking website that allows members to follow individuals, organizations, and businesses they are interested in.  As of September 2010, there were 175 million registered users on Twitter and 95 million tweets per day.

(Twitter)
What is a tweet?
From the Twitter website "At the heart of Twitter are small bursts of information called Tweets. Each Tweet is 140 characters in length, but don’t let the small size fool you—you can share a lot with a little space. Connected to each Tweet is a rich details pane that provides additional information, deeper context and embedded media. You can tell your story within your Tweet, or you can think of a Tweet as the headline, and use the details pane to tell the rest with photos, videos and other media content."

A recent tweet from the LIS Twitter page was sent in preparation to this years Title I Conference in Tampa, FL.  By using Twitter, we not only can connect with our employees and clients more easily, but we can also inform them of news in real-time.

Display System Debut!

Learn It Systems is pleased to announce the arrival of our new display to use at events!

The display features Learn It's branded colors, company logo, and logos of the 6 services currently being offered.  These services include Learn It Advantage, Online, Non-Public School Services, Summer Schoolhouse, Express, and English Language Learning program.

It is a 3x3 full height display system, measuring 8.56"H x 89.5"W x 19.5"D.  It can be placed behind a table or booth, or it can stand alone as a backdrop.  This makes it large enough to advertise Learn It and be seen from a distance.  Considering it's size, however, the stand is still compact enough to maneuver around.

Many types of events would be suitable for the use of the display.  It would have a great impact at tradeshows, conferences, school functions, seminars, and other events that Learn It is represented.

What are some of the display's key features?

- The display stands alone with magnetic poles and panels, which are easy to set up
  and disassemble
- Top lights are included to illuminate the sign for any type of event setting
- All pieces fit into a compartment on wheels for traveling

Learn It will be debuting the display at the 2011 National Title I Conference in Tampa, FL at the end of this month.  For details about the conference, please click here.
